Letter to the Finish Ministry for the Enviroment and Economics (Energy Departement)

We have written to the government of Finland because we are concerned that Finland has not yet taken sufficient steps to implement European Commission Recommendation 1007/2026 concerning the legalization of Plug-in-PV.

By not implementing the Commission Recommendation, Finland places its consumers at a disadvantage compared to Germany, Austria, France, Latvia, Spain, and several other Member States.

Finland is geographically well suited for balcony solar. High latitudes mean low solar elevation angles, making vertical mounting on facades and balconies particularly effective, especially in winter when traditional roof-mounted panels perform poorly.

Plug-In-PV systems can include batteries up to 2 kWh, improving economic performance and providing an isolated Schuko outlet for emergency power during blackouts. This enhances household resilience for outages lasting up to a week.
