Letter to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero concerning Plug-in solar Regulatory amendment and interim product specification

We have written about the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero concerning Plug-in solar Regulatory amendment and interim product specification about which we would like to express our satisfaction regarding the establishment of a planned new regulation for the installation of Plug-In Photovoltaic Systems up to 800W on buildings and their connection to the internal power grid of the owner. We believe nearly all home electricity customers in the UK can benefit from a speedy introduction of such systems. We see some issues: On page 23 of the  “Plug-in Solar Device Interim Product Specification Version 2.0” of July 2026 it states:  “All connectors shall fulfil the requirements of BS EN 62852 and shall be supplied with cables by the manufacturer. Only matching connector pairs from the same product family shall be used.” This regulation is almost directly copied and translated from the German DIN VDE V 0126-95. We have criticized this, as the DKE K 373, the committee in charge of the Plug-in-PV Norm has never been able to reproduce sources that point to any proven danger of the use of mechanically compatible solar connectors. Letter to the Greek Minister for Energy about proposed regulation for Plug-In-Solar

We have writen to the Greek Minister for the Environment and Energy responding to a public inquiry about the use of plug-in-solar in Greece. With our message, we would like to express our satisfaction regarding the establishment of a planned new regulation for the installation of small Plug-In Photovoltaic Systems up to 800W on buildings and their connection to the internal power grid of the owner. However, we are concerned about the details of this proposed Greek regulation, because it would create significant hurdles for the potential owners and is thus contrary to the intention of the Recommendation 1007/2026 of the European Commission, Item 9.. And the draft of the new Greek regulations for plug-in-pv systems has a number of unnecessary administrative and technical provision. Such as a requirement that surplus energy may not be fed into the grid, the necessity for an electrician to install the system or a requirement for a double registration. In our experience governments and interest groups can try to limit the adoption of plug-in-solar with extensive, cumbersome and difficult technical and legal regulations. BalkonSolar Verein unterstützt Klage zur Herausgabe der Solar Flächen der Stadt Freiburg beim Verwaltungsgericht Freiburg

Updates unten Über fragdenstaat.de hatte ein Aktivist aus dem Umfeld des Klimacamps die Stadt am 16. Juli 2023 gebeten, Dokumente zum Solarausbau auf städtischen Dächern zu übersenden:  Konkret ging es dabei um:  “Alle diese Informationen unterliegen dem Informationsfreiheitsgesetz von Baden-Württemberg, es gibt keinen Grund diese geheim zu halten und sie wären um die aktuelle Debatte um die Beschleunigung des Solarausbaus in Freiburg sehr hilfreich.”, so Sebastian Müller vom BalkonSolar Verein, der die Klage unterstützt. Es wäre also für die Stadtverwaltung ein einfaches gewesen, diese Informationen der interessierten Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung zu stellen. Trotz Mahnung am 21.8, 4.9., 25.9., 6.10. und zuletzt am 29.10. hat die Stadtverwaltung auf diese Anfrage noch nicht mal reagiert.  Laut dem Energiebericht von 2019 sind zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt 5 PV-Anlagen mit 883 kWp auf den stadteigenen Dachflächen aufgeführt, von denen die letzte laut Bericht Dez. 2018 in Betrieb ging. Seither ist viel passiert und die Vorgaben wurden vereinfacht, aber leider hat die Stadtverwaltung bisher keine Daten geliefert.  “Städtische Gebäude, wie Schulen, Kindergärten und Stadtteilzentren bieten für den beschleunigten PV-Ausbau ein großes Potential.
